We caught up this week with one of the great dentists you can book on HealthEngine, Dr Michael Finkelstein, widely regarded as Sydney’s friendliest dentist.
Having known Michael for some 20 years I can vouch for that too. His patients love him and it’s an everyday occurrence to be greeted with a kiss on the cheek as he greets you as though catching up with an old friend.
Patients travel for kilometres, just to attend an appointment with Michael.
And that is the essence of what makes Michael Finkelstein the people’s dentist. It’s about providing a relaxing and welcoming environment.
Speaking to Michael this week he shared that he has recently opened a boutique practice at Chatswood and, in true Michael Finkelstein style, he opened the practice to serve patient needs.
He said, “I had a patient who was in dreadful pain attend my practice in the city and said he needed a dentist because the one that he attended had closed.” The rest is history – Michael opened his boutique practice in Chatswood shortly after.
South African born Michael and his Dad, Judah opened their first practice in Australia in Sydney’ Oxford Street before moving to the city and establishing state of the art facilities.
Michael says, ‘My move to boutique facilities in Chatswood is really all about the patient, I wanted to streamline overheads and costs and to provide the same cutting-edge dentistry at much more competitive prices for my patients. It’s al about them. That’s what I love.’
Michael’s interests lie in creating a beautiful smile in harmony with the patients’ facial features. Michael’s philosophy is to “positively change people’s lives daily“. It is always rewarding to be able to help people who have suffered for years.
And if you are dental phobic – Michael is the right dentist for you. His gentle approach and guiding style will make you feel comfortable no matter the circumstances.
Being a dentist these days requires staying up to date, and being at the forefront of his career is a priority for Michael. Most of his after hours time is spent at weekend and/or night time lectures. This is to ensure that his patients always receive the optimum care and reflects the full level of pride in Michael’s dental work.
In his spare time Michael can be found on the water boating, one of his great passions, and pursuing other artistic interests. If he is not at a dental course on the weekend, he will be doing glass blowing, painting, pottery…and he is an ardent collector/or just browser of antiques and silverware.
Dr Michael Finkelstein has an ever-growing practice with patients travelling from overseas and all around Australia just to see him. And if you are lucky enough to make an appointment with this happy dentist, you won’t be disappointed. You’ll join a family of patients who all love going to see Michael. Yes, that’s right, love going to the dentist!
